Friday night musings

Jack's getting tooth number 6...it's on the cusp of breaking through. He's now full-time cruising, and pulling up on EVERYTHING. My favorite is that he now can stand up in his crib, but he hasn't yet figured out how to get back down. He'll cry till I help him down, then stand right back up again. Naps aren't going the best because of this, and he's soooo tired. He's also learned to throw his paci out of his crib! Miss M said he climbed a stair yesterday. (We have no stairs at our house)

Sum's got two tiny little bottom baby teeth...even smaller than Jack's they are so cute! He is army crawling everywhere and we have seen a lot of up on all fours from him. He can say "uh oh" and something that sounds like "Dack." I have some wonderful pics I will post of him petting the "kitty." (Bode) I am amazed Bode lets him near, honestly!

I am slightly worried as D goes out of town soon for 4 days. I'll be nervous to do it all alone for so long. I enjoyed snow day #4 this week. Next week is parent teacher conferences. Sunday we get our 1 year pics taken with Rachel. I can't wait!

Thanks for all the well-wishes. Jack's vomiting has stopped as we had to do an emergency Prevacid-push and we're back down now to 1 tab daily and so far so good.

I found a strange lump on Jack's neck a week ago that seems to still be there. I plan to call and just ask a nurse about it on Monday.

New worry...

At our last pedi appt, the doctor told D to take Sum off his reflux meds. We complied and Jack commenced his projectile vomiting. Poor guy! When he was a tiny baby, he'd smile after barfing. Now, as a one year old (gulp....it's still hard to say!) he HATES barfing and sobs hysterically. Plus, it's no fun with solids mixed in. Spaghetti baby food=permanant stains. So, we had to re-dose him double to get the PPIs working again ASAP. Say a little prayer. He doesn't have the weight to lose/not gain.

Today was Papa and Papaw's birthday celebration. Papa came up to visit the boys and we all went out to lunch. Yum!

Tonight we took our first big boy tub bath. It went over like a ton of bricks. The boys screamed the whole time. LOL! Guess it's back to the baby tub for now.

Sum is so into army crawling now. He spent 10 minutes last night petting the new stroller and talking to it.

Last night Mimi and Papa came over to watch the boys and D and I got to go out on date night. I swear D was as excited as when we first started dating. It was lovely and we had a fabulous time. It's only the 3rd time we'd been out since the boys were born.

Snow day again!

Woot! I am so happy to have the day off! I am totally spoiled by snow days but it's they only way I can get through the blah of winter and see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Today we're going to go get our new double stroller for the boys. We ended up getting a GREAT deal on the new duoglider...We're buying BRU's floor model which they are discounting a grand total of 35% for us. Woo hoo! Between the double stroller and the 4 convertible carseats we just had to buy, our pocketbooks are feeling the pressure! I'm more nervous about the logistics of a 39 pound stroller, babies that have to be taken in and out of the car by people, and the new prospect of coats, and bundling up, but not while in carseats. And dirty restaurant highchairs. Lord have mercy on me!

Movin' on up!

Today Jack pulled up on his own on 2 pieces of furniture: the chair, and the couch!

Summy is getting his second tooth!

Decorations... very hungry caterpillar party!

We had the party at a local clubhouse and we spent hours decorating the room. Caterpillars made of balloons:

I made the cake...it was many many cupcakes. I painted caterpillars and a large apple for the wall. We made caterpillars out of balloons, and we ate all the food the caterpillar ate. I made cute table cards for each food saying "on _____ he ate ___" We used primary colors: mostly green yellow and red with a little blue. Primary tablecloths, primary balloon bunches. We bought the very hungry caterpillar game for older kids to play.

Erin made the invitations. They turned out lovely! Please be sure to visit her website!

Birthday boys!

One Year Old.

I cannot even begin to put into words how amazing the past year has been. While it has gone by altogether too quickly, the small, quiet moments it has brought me have been so beautiful, it moves me to tears. I never knew I could feel such love, joy, fear, pain, heartbreak, and hope. And if I ever thought I was a worrier before...well...

It has been a great year for the boys, and most of all I am thankful for their health, happiness, and fun personalities. Tomorrow we gather with family and friends to celebrate and I will be sure to post many pictures for everyone to see.

Thank you for loving these wonderful guys I feel lucky to have met. How was I so lucky to bring these wonderful babies (not any more...) into this world? How was I so lucky to get to meet these little men?

Happy Valentine's Day!

The boys had to get RSV and a few shots today, and then more tomorrow, but we got our one year weights:

Jack-- 15lbs 10oz
Sumner-- 17lbs 6oz

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

We were in the news today!

Besides being in the news for a snow day today...woo hoo!... we were in a news story in the dispatch today. Here's a link to the article:

http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/life/stories/2008/02/12/1_PUSH_PRESENTS.ART_ART_02-12-08_D1_5S99SN9.html?sid=101

And here we are from the story!

From the article:

In the spring, the husband of Meghan A gave her a $200 necklace bearing one opal and two amethysts.

The twin sons of the Westerville couple were born eight weeks early and spent almost a month in the hospital.

With her children's health the ultimate gift, she said, she considered his gesture a nice surprise.

"I think my husband felt a little sorry for me," said the elementary-school music teacher, 29. "It wasn't like 'Oh, I need a present.' But he did a good job."

Classic baby story of the week

David was in bed yesterday morning and "passed gas" and we were all sitting there and Summy looked at him and blew a raspberry with his mouth. (Sounded just like D's fart.)

I laughed so hard I almost died. I told him "sounds the same buddy, but not quite!"

We're feeling better!

Thankfully, we're for the most part feeling better. I think I have a sinus infection, but other than that, we're well.

Jack never got the barfing thing. Unfortunately, I think Sumner lost a half-3/4 a pound. He is just in the last few days back up to eating how he did before...

Some things I want to remember them doing right now:

Jack's open-mouthed kisses
Jack getting into *everything*
Jack's crazy head spasm dancing
Jack always trying to pull the heart light's cord in our bedroom.
Jack trying to pull up on the learning table and sitting people
Jack shaking his head no when he doesn't like a food
Jack brushing his teeth before bed
Jack "reading books" and flipping the pages
Jack "making out" with his blankie before bed

Sumner loving on Lambie
Sumner grunting when he gets stuck in a strange position
Sumner saying "hey!"
Sumner waving bye bye to things he doesn't want.
Sumner dancing to "his song"
Sumner "hand dancing"
Sumner trying to bear weight on his legs, with his butt sticking out
Sumner's sweet expression when sleeping
Sumner getting scared in the middle of the night

I can't remember if I posted that Sumner got his first tooth about 2 weeks ago. If possible, it seems to be even smaller than Jack's, which is so silly. Sumner also army crawled for the first time on Thursday. He is starting to get more mobile.

Jack is into everything and is now trying to pull up on low objects.

The boys went to their first concert Thursday night. I did a combined band and strings concert. They loved the music, but Sumner screamed bloody murder at the clapping, and David had to take him in the hall. Poor guy!

I cannot believe they will be one in a week!

So so so so sick!

David was HORRIBLY ill on Monday and after a trip to the urgent care, we were told it was food poisoning...

...sadly, it wasn't. I was sick 10 times before leaving school yesterday, and my fever spiked at 102.5. I just had a bowl of soup an hour ago (my first food) and I haven't been this sick in who knows how long.

Unfortunately, Sumner started throwing up yesterday afternoon and seems to be doing slightly better today. So far Jack is OK and while it seems unbelievable he wouldn't be sick too, I'm hoping he isn't, as he hasn't got the weight to lose.

blah.
