Family pictures, 2013

I held off on posting these until our Christmas cards went out. The irony is that it took two sessions and literally there were two good pictures from that session. In the rest, our kids were angry, throwing rocks, kicking each other, pulling hair, or freaking out. Thankfully we got two good ones!

Cousins

My brother and sister in law came up to Ohio for a summer visit, and Summy and Jack got a chance to hang out with their cousin Emma. It was amazing to see how well they got along and how much they enjoyed playing with her. (I think the last few years they have been a bit young.) Here are some pictures I took of our trip to COSI.

4th of July

I am quickly realizing I need to give up on the hope of A) Getting 5 year old twin boys to smile at the same time and NOT jump, make silly faces, etc.and B) Have hope of getting a great picture of all 3. It is like finding the Loch Ness Monster.

Baptism!

Last Sunday Truman was baptized in the church that the boys and I were baptized in. It was very nice and we were thankful for the family and friends who were able to attend! Summy and Jack were really into it and went up to the front with us, asking to help by holding the cloth (we let them) and the candle (didn't think that was a good idea! LOL!) My sister and her husband are Truman's Godparents.

After the service we had everyone over to our house for lunch and cake. Truman was having so much fun, he didn't want to go to sleep! He ended up crashing after everyone left and I had to wake him around 6!

Pre-K Graduation

Today Summy and Jack graduated from pre-k. They sang songs, they got a "diploma," It was wonderful. It amazes me every day how far they have come.

Soccering!

We decided to try out soccer for the boys...so far so good! It has truly been an experience for me, as I never really played sports as a kid. The parents and coaches can be intense which is sorta funny considering all the kids are 5. One of the coaches told me at practice Wednesday that he lied so his 5 year old could play for a few years and get more experience...this kind of "sports parent" I cannot understand or relate to.

Practices have gone well, Jack gets super tired and even teary by the end of the hour long practice. He is exhausted, and though he tries very hard, he falls down a ton. Summy is cautious. I'm hoping with more time both will continue to enjoy playing. I feel like playing a sport and getting the body moving is really important for kids, and can only help our kids with gross motor, coordination, and teamwork.

We haven't talked about any of the boys' special needs with the coaches, and D says I should just let it go. It's hard not to want to explain when Jack gets so exhausted, but I am trying.

As for me, I won't lie that I am not an ideal "sports fan" and I continue to try to get into it more...hoping as our first game approaches I'll find my inner soccer mom, or at least a glimpse of her.

long time, no smile

Sorry to have been MIA so long! Can you guess what I did? Last week was my first back at work.

Truman's been smiling up a storm, and he even laughed a little bit for the first time this week!
