Truman's been eating a little less at the sitters house and I was getting worried. She kept telling me that he just keeps chewing on his bottle. Last night David pointed out a tooth...probably came through Thursday on his nine month birthday! It is so teeny and cute. Now we know why he's been having trouble!
At his nine month appointment yesterday, Truman weighed 18 pounds 8 ounces, 28 1/2 inches tall, and his head was 18 1/4 inches.

6 month stats
We're at the pediatrician! Truman weighed 17 pounds, .5 ounces, is 27.5 inches long and has a head circumference of 17.5 inches!
That is the 50th percentile for weight and the 75th for height!

True Story
Truman now weighs 16 pounds. He is not yet 6 months old. He is 5 and some change,
Jack weighed 34 pounds at his 5 year appointment, He might weigh 35, or 36 pounds now. Maybe.
This fact amazes me.

4 month stats
It is amazing how things change when you have a full term baby. Truman had his 4 month checkup on Friday and the pediatrician deemed him to be "perfect." He weighed 13 pounds, 4.5 ounces. He is solidly in 3-6 month clothes and I am getting out 6 month stuff for him. He was 25.5 inches long. (So tall!)
Here's what is so mind blowing: Jack was 16 pounds at one year. ONE year. In some ways I cannot remember, but then I go to get out clothes for Truman and we simply don't have them because things he is wearing at 4 months, the boys were wearing around 9-12 months. It amazes me.
Truman continues to have a clogged tear duct, and we are hoping it resolved on its own. He loves to vocalize and is very smiley. He laughs and squeals but D says he only does it for me. He is nursing better and we lost the nipple shield a few weeks ago and never looked back. He drinks a bottle like a champ. He can roll to his side, but no rolling over yet. He is really into eating his hands and fingers. He is a joy and continues to be an "easy." baby. He sleeps from 10pm-6:45 when we wake him, (sleeps until 8:30 on the weekends) and takes 3-4 naps a day.

2 Month check up
Truman had his 2 month checkup today. He was 9 pounds 9 ounces, and 22 inches long. Everything is going well with him, but we have to take him in to the ENT. Some nights we can hear him snoring/he sounds like Darth Vader breathing. In the hospital they gave him saline nose drops, and we mentioned it at his newborn appointment and 1 month. The pediatrician said it could be something he grows out of, OR enlarged adenoids, so off to the ENT we go.
He was a total trooper for the shots and cried only a teensy bit and then stopped and went right to sleep. He actually slept through most of the appointment, which was amazing considering how loud his brothers were. (They all had an appointment together.)

big boy!
What a big boy! Truman's was amazing us at the hospital by trying to hold his head up, and he's really been working on it a lot. It is so sweet because he will do "tummy time" and wear himself out after only a few minutes.
But in all reality, this is more like what is happening every day at our house:
Truman is such a good sleeper and he really is an "easy" baby. He's awake mostly from about 6-9 p.m. and like I said yesterday, when the pediatrician weighed him on Monday, he was 8 lbs 10.5 oz. We are really lucky.

not what I imagined
The meeting was...interesting. Not what I imagined, but it was decided that both boys will be re-evaluated. This is the first step in the direction of them having some plan for next year, our only fear is what kind of plan will that be? There was a lot of discussion of a 504 plan versus an IEP and after reading more about that, I feel very worried. I felt like we went into the meeting with them having decided what the outcome would be already, before the boys are even evaluated, which I don't like.
I had to take Truman in to the pedi yesterday because he had been congested for a few days. While I was in, I set up a meeting with her, and she also referred us to go get a full workup/evaluation on the boys by a psychologist. With a lot of things being thrown around about attention issues, and with Jack's recent outbursts/violent tantrums, we need to get to the bottom of what EXACTLY is going on with both of them. We know they have sensory processing disorder, and Sumner has been diagnosed with generalized anxiety, but we were reminded in the meeting that in the prior evaluation, Sumner came back as PDD-NOS in the district testing, and with all of Jack's fine motor and coordination issues, we want to make sure we are seeing the whole picture.
So, in all honesty, the last 24 hours have been totally overwhelming and frustrating. I would be lying if I didn't tell you that I feel somewhat responsible (even though I know it is ridiculous to feel that way) every time we talk about what is going on with S+J. I wonder how much of what is going on is from their prematurity. I was also pretty angry because I want what is best for them educationally and I want to be heard as a parent. I am hoping that as we undertake the evaluation process, that their needs are truly seen and that they won't be discounted just because they are cognitively so ahead.

Who hit the weight chart? WE hit the weight chart!
Totally random post, just had to share our excitement! At our 2 1/2 year appointment yesterday, BOTH boys hit the weight chart. Summy was in the 5th and Jack was in the 1st percentile. Hey, even though it's small, it's something!

Growth Check ...project weight gain continues!
We went on Black Friday of all days to a pedi appointment for a growth check of the boys. Because of Synagis season, the boys have to be weighed every time they get their shots because the medicine is mixed specifically to their weight. Please see prior posts from last year freaking out about their weight gain or lack thereof between the months of Nov-April because of this very reason.
So our appointment went well, I won't post their height because I know it was wrong, they got Summy as being taller even though Jack is, and Summy still has a great big old monster melon, but what's new? However, Jack...
CROSSED OVER AND WEIGHS 20 POUNDS!
The child has literally NO buns whatsoever, he sits down and the floor cries because his bones are poking it, but I digress. He weighs 20 pounds people! I am so stinkin' happy! He actually pooped tonight and I told David he's probably back under, but I had a few moments to bask in the glory...
Summy weighed 21 lbs 15 oz.
She was VERY happy with their weight...even though they are both below the chart on weight, (Summy is soooo close!) they are both following a lovely curve, which is the important part.
Jack's ear infection wasn't any better, so we were on to antibiotics, round 2.

Technical Help
I need technical help from my fellow bloggers. I am trying to figure out how to add the blogroll to the sidebar that shows the blogs I read as they are updated. Any one know how to do this?
Also, my links never seem to show up. Anyone have ideas why this is happening?
I've been checking my google analytics, and 70% of my visits are from referrals from other blogs. That is awesome! Thanks to all who read and have a link to my blog. If your blog isn't linked in the left, and I have missed you, can you comment and let me know?
We're continuing our sickness. We all 4 have the same "cold." David and the boys all have ear infections and have been on antibiotics, which have helped immensely. The boys are really almost back to all better.
Mine has gone into tonsillitis. Strangely, I had my upper tonsils removed at age 5, but there's a lower set called the lingual tonsils. One became infected when I was a senior in college and they removed it surgically. It's kind of a rare operation. The worry now is that the other one is infected. Please send me good thoughts...they wanted me in to the hospital today but I got meds to hopefully tide me over until the ENT can see me Monday or Tuesday. I'll let you know what they find.
The boys had their first Synagis shot today, finally! This year we have a home nurse administering it and it is much easier. Jack weighed 19 lbs 8 oz, and Summy weighed 21 lbs 12 oz.

Jack update
After freaking that my child looked emaciated, and after crying thoroughly about it, David and I each re-weighed Jack. David got 19.6 lbs and I got 19.8.

18 months old!
Today my boys are 18 months old. My tiny babies, who lived at the NICU, and put their tiny preemie hands in front of their face, and waved them in the air. My little grunting, groaning babies. Where has time gone? I took pictures earlier and plan to load them tomorrow, but for now, my 18 month old babies:
Sumner (Summy) You are so sweet, cuddly, and loving. You love to cuddle and climb up frequently to sit in my lap. You are so funny...often saying "jack sit down" and "Jack Jack...no no no!" You love to talk on the pretend phone, and we can't help but laugh when you laugh on your "phone call." You love animals so much, particularly our cats. You have a certain sound you make when things make you happy. You love to splash and play in the water. You sometimes get scared at night. You love cheese, and fruit, and marshmallows. You really love to push your push toys. It's hard to wake you up in the morning and after naps. Your hair sticks up sometimes like a rooster! You always rub food in your hair. You mostly say "dada" and not "mama." You love to repeat words after I have said them. You are darling, precious, and wonderful.
Jackson (Jack) You are so independant. You love to talk, and will talk the ear off of anyone who will listen to you. You love to walk, to climb, and you are so determined. If you don't get it right the first time, you try again and again. You are ornery. You think that all the animals meow. You constantly surprise us with the things you say. (Today when I told you it was time to leave daycare, you said "I don't want to go.") You give kisses freely. You love to read and often bring me books to read to you. You love to point out lights. You love carbs and sweets, and chicken nuggets. Especially with ranch dressing. You primarily say "mom" and not "dad." When you dance, it looks like you are headbanging: frequently you fall over you get so into it. You make silly faces, and you love to make others laugh. You are spirited, strong, and loving.
I love you my baby boys. You aren't babies anymore. You're really toddlers.
Today at our 18m pediatrician. appointment Jack weighed in at 18 lbs 13 oz and Sumner 20 lbs 2 oz She thought the boys looked AOK! She also said we should consider Sumner a walker as he is now consistantly taking 5-6 steps in a row, and sometimes more. We met our daycare teachers. (Daycare starts Monday) and we spent our last night with Aunt e and Uncle j before baby puff arrives on Monday.

Growth Check

Today we had a growth checkup with Dr. K. She wanted to make sure the boys were gaining well now that we are on all table foods. (no more babyfood or fortification of solids.) And the verdict?
Sumner was 19 lbs 1.5 oz
Jack was 17 lbs 11 oz
The boys both lost almost a pound due to our recent stomach bug, so Dr. K was really pleased. Summy had gained it back and then some, and Jack hadn't quite gained it all back yet but was close. I'm guessing the wendy's french fries he ate for lunch today might help him, though.

Watch out people, I've got some big boys!
We had our last RSV shot of the season...and the boys were WAY bigger than I even guesstimated!

We took a walk at the Park of Roses this past weekend, where David and I were married. I took a few pics of the boys but couldn't get one of the two of them I liked all that well. Sumner just wanted to crawl everywhere and wouldn't sit still. It reminded me a LOT of Jack about 2 months ago.
Yesterday the therapist was super happy to see how well Sumner was interacting. She said she didn't want to worry me, but her concerns over autism in him had been growing a little, and she felt MUCH better after her visit yesterday. Thank heavens!

Big Boys!
We had our second to last Synagis shot of the season today, and Sumner weighed 18 lbs, 1oz (Way to break 18 pounds...woo hoo!) and Jack a whopping 16 lbs, 11 oz!!! What big boys!
At the pedi's office he expressed concern over the growing brown spots on Jack's front teeth. He thinks it is from an apparent lack of tooth enamel. He said we need to head ASAP to a pediatric dentist, and I was fortunate enough to get an appointment for tomorrow at 9 am. My online research indicates this might be because of the boys being premature, but I'll know more tomorrow. Wish us luck!

Weights
I threw the boys on the scale tonight after their bath and Jack was 16.4 lbs and Sumner only 17.7. I am slightly worried that Sum's not gained as much although I know he's become much more active. (He's usually a slug)
Sum's developed a random case of cradle cap, something we never had as babies. Hopefully the oil in the hair tonight before his bath did its trick.
Also, they just called and said we have no school tomorrow. Hopefully I can get my errands done before the next snow hits. (another inch or so tomorrow) I actually really needed to see my kindergarden kids tomorrow.

Where have we been?!?!
Both the boys have been sososososososo sick! IN the meantime, our house has been so hard. Last week D took a day off to be home with them, and we both only got MAYBE 2 hours consecutively of sleep. It's hard when one is sick, but both at once is really difficult!
I had it (cold, HORRIBLE cough) the weekend prior (one weekend ago) as well as a stomach bug. Then they got it. Now David has it. (He never gets sick) He even had to take the day off work. (Second one ever in the last 6 years!
In the meantime, the boys turned 11 months old (look for pics coming soon!) and Summy got his first tooth. (We noticed it last Sat, it has *just* broken through!) Jack's working on tooth number 5! (his top incisor.) Jack is into *everything* now so we have up lots of gates...he's obsessed with our cat door to the garage and will try to go out of it, and stick his hands through it, etc etc. He army crawls and can do three crawling moves in a row before falling over.
Summy's beginning to bear a *tiny* bit of weight on his legs, and the therapists brought leg braces for him to wear for a few minutes at a time to practice weight bearing. Summy's head bump is about 1/2the size right now which is a huge relief...it seems to be going down.
Jack still loves to give kisses (only on the mouth) and he is currently going through a kick where he keeps trying to feed people and put things in and out of their mouths. Sumner's into "dancing" and every time he hears music practially he dances. Today he played the bottom of a toy like a drum so I could dance.
One week ago they both got their second dose of the Synagis vaccine. We expect to keep getting it through April. At the appointment, Sumner weighed 17 lbs, 6 oz and Jack weighed 15 lbs, 3 oz! Much better than we thought! My new goal is 18 for Sum at a year and 16 for Jack!
Their first birthday is fast approaching and we have decided on a "very hungry caterpillar" theme. Be on the lookout for invites!

Worry
The worry eats away at you when you are a preemie mom. It never goes away. I know moms worry, but I am sick with it.
Sumner's head hasn't gotten any better. God, please help me not to worry.
The boys aren't eating well at all now that they are back at the sitters. Especially Sumner. He's also back on a nursing strike. When I weighed him tonight, the scale read: 16.75. God, please help me not to worry.
Sumner isn't bearing weight on his legs still and the therapist worries b/c he lacks core strngth and isn't crossing the midline a lot. God, please help me not to worry.

More excitement!
Sum's really good with the puffs. Jack still hasn't got it yet, but it's only a matter of time. Some great things that happened today:
~I was in bed sleeping with the boys during their am nap. Jack woke up early, rolled over, and gave me 4 "kisses" on my mouth to wake me up. (I woke up after the first one but faked sleeping so see what he'd do.
~Both babies are waving "bye bye" now. Sum's better at it than Jack
~Jack is so so so so close to crawling. He tried to come down the hallway to see me today.
~Both boys ate a lot more this am for breakfast: 1 tablespoon of oatmeal with their 2 formula powder scoops and BM mixed in, and 1/2 a jar of stage 3 banannas, as well as 20 puffs each!
Also, on our home scale last night Jack weighed 15 pounds and Sum weighed 17 pounds! Woot! Go babies!!!
