Happy New Year!

As 2008 draws to a close, we have a lot to be thankful for this year. Healthy, beautiful boys who fill us with joy every day, friends who we love and who love us dearly, family who are near and dear to us, and each other. 2007 was such a struggle that I sometimes wondered if we would ever get through it. 2008 has been a time of really getting to know the personalities of our two little guys. A year of bonding and growing as a family. We've had a wonderful year, one that flew by way too quickly.

May 2009 be the most fruitful, amazing, and memorable year for you and your family! Thank you for caring about us all so much!

Christmas morning in pictures

The most amazing thing Christmas morning was watching the boys faces as they came around the corner and saw all the presents under the tree. Summy promptly exclaimed "Wow!" and then when he saw the little 12.00 IKEA train we had set up as a present he quickly followed with "awesome!" The train has proven to be their favorite gift of them all so far.

Summy had to have supervised visitation after bodyslamming and biting the elmo live doll I won for the boys as their "big present" from Santa. Thank heavens I didn't pay the full price for it!

Merry Christmas!

Our visit this year with Santa was interesting to say the least...halfway through our hour and a half wait he went to auntie anne's and got himself a snack, which definitely caused some of the kids in line some doubt! Jack freaked when we first sat him down, but we managed to get an OK picture with all of them not really smiling, actually, Santa looks pained! But at least they are looking calm!

Merry Christmas to all of you from our family!

22 months with pictures

Sorry it took so long! My favorite quote from Summy in his highchair today: "I love fries!"

On the mend!

Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers, both posted and sent privately. It touches me that there are so many of you who care so much for our little guys!

Jack is finally on the mend! He went for a re-check on Friday and they found his ear infection had returned. They put him on a very strong penicillin based antibiotic and he broke put in hives all over his body. His fever broke Saturday. He's been totally doped up on Benadryl for the last 2 days but today the hives seem to not be as bad so we are going to try to go without.

Thanks again for your kind words and thoughts! If Jack's ear infections continue, he might have to have tubes. Both David and I had to have them but we're hoping that Jack won't have to. It seems ever since he weaned about a month ago, he's had back to back ear infections.

Look for our pictures, coming soon!

Please say a prayer

Yesterday daycare called: Jack had a fever of 103. We took him straight to the pedi, who said it was a virus.

Today it's hit 104.1 and tonight 104.1 WITH the motrin. Please say a prayer. I am very worried!

22 months old!

The boys are 22 months old today, and I can't believe they are just 2 months away from turning two. Where has time gone? Here's a status report:

Summy: Favorite words are "uh oh," "shut the door" "hi tree" "cheese" "Elmo" and "paci." Loves to run around and chase the cats. Loves to sing. Loves Christmas lights and trees and snow.

Jack: Favorite words are "cookie" "more cookie" (see a trend?) "no" "light" and "baby." Loves to do grown up things. Is curious about the potty. Loves to flush, wash his hands, climb up into his highchair, pick up, use a spoon and fork, and brush his teeth. Is currently trying to jump.

Both boys love to dance and play and run around. Both are a joy.

I'll leave you with a picture from last night until I can get today's "month shoot" downloaded. Enjoy!

If you like it then you should have...

Jack and Summy would like you to know that "if you like it then you should have put a ring on it." That and the Jack Johnson Curious George CD are the current big dance hits at our house. Please commence your deep knee bends and spinning in place.

Teething and other fine things

Summy's been teething and life has been really hard for him. He's finally getting those 12 month molars and boy are they all coming in at once for him. If he hasn't had tylenol, he won't eat, and he's having a very hard time sleeping. I know he's smiling in this picture, but the smiles are few and far between. You can even see them in his mouth...

Jack's been working really hard at trying to be a grown up. He loves to make phone calls, (most calls consist of this conversation: "hello? okay, okay okay, bye!") and work on his "computer." (a keyboard)

And of course, they still both love elmo.

Lovely post from my husband!

On Sunday we took the boys to COSI, our local science museum, because it was free for the day. We just had the best morning, and some really awesome family time. My eloquent husband wrote about it here so head on over and check it out!

Pig in a blanket

On Sunday the boys were getting ready to get into the bathtub. I had already taken Summy's clothes off because nothing makes them happier than running around naked.

I went in to take off Jack's clothes, and he was in the bathroom with David, throwing bath toys into the water. I went to take off his diaper and he laughed, and ran over to throw in a rubber duck. As he bent over, David said "eew! he has a turd stuck to his butt!" We were both grossed out, but got a good chuckle and I wiped him up and threw it away.

It wasn't until he ran back over to get more bath toys from the bin that we noticed the problem: the turd had been the end of a very long log that looked scarily like a pig in a blanket, and was lying on the floor in front of David, who had completely not noticed.

We are affectionately referring this to the "pig in a blanket incident." Please begin engraving our parent of the year award.
