More excitement!

Sum's really good with the puffs. Jack still hasn't got it yet, but it's only a matter of time. Some great things that happened today:

~I was in bed sleeping with the boys during their am nap. Jack woke up early, rolled over, and gave me 4 "kisses" on my mouth to wake me up. (I woke up after the first one but faked sleeping so see what he'd do.

~Both babies are waving "bye bye" now. Sum's better at it than Jack

~Jack is so so so so close to crawling. He tried to come down the hallway to see me today.

~Both boys ate a lot more this am for breakfast: 1 tablespoon of oatmeal with their 2 formula powder scoops and BM mixed in, and 1/2 a jar of stage 3 banannas, as well as 20 puffs each!

Also, on our home scale last night Jack weighed 15 pounds and Sum weighed 17 pounds! Woot! Go babies!!!

Feeding themselves!

David's in Dayton this evening, so I decided to try and see how the boys would do with their puffs. Let me preface this post with these words: our kids are not big eaters. I have struggled and struggled with it, but have come to the realization that this is a common preemie thing. We do the best we can.

That being said: they usually spilt a stage 2 jar for dinner, and as of the last 6 weeks we've been doing puffs, with mixed response. We try to put them in their fingers and have them "feed" themselves, but they get annoyed and want us to feed them. Sum's getting better at "gumming" them but Jack mainly swallows them. So pretty much they aren't rockin' the puffs.

So tonight they PIG the food down. They ate 2 1/2 stage 2 jars, I'd say Sumner had 1 1/2 alone. He kept crying for more food. Then, I put their trays on their highchairs and put puffs on them. AND THEY PICKED THEM UP! AND FED THEMSELVES! Sorry to use caps, but this was big!!! Sum got about 50% in his mouth, Jack only about 10%, but it was SO amazing!

I caught it on video for David too!

And today I made my first donation to the local milk bank. 115 ounces. I sat and cried b/c they had a scrapbook of donor mothers and their babies. Many had NICU babies that died and it made me so sad...a rush of overwhelming emotions came back. I found out they supply the CHOP NICU where a fellow blogger Megan's son Jack (she has triplets...seee multiple baby pileup on the left link bar) is. I'd like to think I might be helping him. It's amazing how the world is so connected!

Bye Bye

Sumner's working on waving bye bye. It's pretty sporadic right now but very cute.

Jack's working on kisses. He's pretty good at giving them, then squeals after he gives one. He is thisclose to crawling. He tried to get across the room to play with D's phone today, and licked it so much he broke it.

The babies had a lovely Christmas and got lots of nice presents. Santa got them a Leapforg learning table and they love it. I'll post pictures soon.

The calling hours are tomorrow night and the funeral is Friday a.m. so we'll be travelling a lot the next few days.

Merry Christmas!

Unfortunately, David's Mamaw passed away yesterday afternoon. Thanks to everyone for the well wishes and thoughts. We'll be travelling to Dayton to visit with David's family today, as well as hosting this am and this evening when "Aunt Erin and Uncle Josh" come over.

Merry Christmas to all!

As Christmas draws near...

We are hard at work preparing our house...we are hosting Christmas morning at our house for my family.

It was a sad day Staurday because we took Punkin back to the shelter. I cried so hard, I hyperventilated. I feel guilty, but thankful to know the shelter is no kill and she will be OK. We may go visit her next week.

We got that sad news that David's Mamaw is probably going to pass away in the next 24 hours. What a sad time for his family, and a difficult time of the year for this all to be happening. We're probably going to go to Dayton to visit D's dad either way, so he isn't too alone...

In honor, here are some beautiful pictures of Mamaw I took...before her brain surgery, and at Thanksgiving. Enjoy.

Whew!

Well, we made it! This has been a rough week and Sum's a little sick. He's been MISERABLE and crying every night at home and going to bed early. Now he has a bad cough. We're wondering what's going on: teething maybe?

Jack gave me a "kiss" today too!

Thankfully, my sing a long went well and I am now officially on Winter Break! Hooray!

In sad news, our cat Punkin has to go back to the shelter tomorrow. I've had her since she was 10 weeks old...she just can't handle the babies and has become hostile to us and the other cats. I'm miserable about it. Thankfully, she's going back to the no kill shelter I adopted her from 8 years ago.

Here's a few pics for you...

Up on all fours!

This is what Jack has treated us to in the last week. It isn't going to be long till he's crawling!

Rockin' and Rollin'

Jack has been on all fours rocking quite a bit the last few days! The first time we saw him do it was Saturday. This is awesome as we have been working so hard on Jack's upper body strength. He was "pile driving" before and could only crawl while pushing his head. Now he is on all fours with his head up and rocking. Go Jack!!

Summy's still content to sit and roll where he needs to go. No signs yet that he's putting any weight on his legs, but we see what the physical therapist says tomorrow.

Snow Day

We got about 4-5 inches of snow last night and today so I was able to stay home with the boys today and get some much needed R & R! I also wrapped presents!

Exciting news!

The boys are going to get the synagis vaccine! The insurance approved it today!!! I am so excited! The shot is very expensive, and because preemies are so much more susceptible to RSV, and beacuse RSV can be so deadly, this vaccine is really going to be awesome for them! As Papaw said: "You must have a good word in with the big guy!" Indeed! Our first dose is being overnighted to my school tomorrow!
