Important fundraiser for an important cause...Batten Disease

I recently got this e-mail from a friend of mine:

Hey Meghan--
I have a small favor to ask you. I know you have a large number of Columbus readers that follow your blog, and my non-profit organization, the Batten Disease Support & Research Association, is having a fundraiser on Sept 26 from 7:00-11:00pm at The Book Loft in German Village. It's actually an Open House event for The Book Loft but we'll be there selling Cardthartic greeting cards, doing a raffle, and providing free food and drinks. It's going to be a fun time.

So my favor to ask is that you take a look at the Betz's family blog (http://betzfamilycolumbus.blogspot.com) and read a little bit about the story of their daughter, Celia, and their struggle with Batten Disease. If you feel so compelled, I would love you forever for mentioning a little bit about them and our fundraiser in a blog post.

How could I resist such an important cause?? I headed over to the Betz family blog, and was immediately shocked to see the picture of beautiful Celia at the top! You see, I am "friends" with local Columbus photographer Amy Parrish, and I had seen the unbelievable pictures of Celia and they had taken my breath away. And here Amy pointed me in this direction...the world can be so small sometimes!

Please consider coming out to support this important event. Not only for Celia, but for every child affected with this disease. Not only will you be helping out a good cause, but Amy will be giving out 50.00 gift cards to the first 100 people in the door. Please head over to the Betz family blog as well. It is an amazing testament to the human spirit.

Hey -- I love the picture of Summy and Jack through the fishbowl! Thank you for sharing the information about Amy Parrish, Cardthartic (aka Passages) and the Book Loft!

P.S. EMDR (which sounded like voodoo to me at first) helped a lot after a scary robbery awhile back... please take care of yourself.
